SKA FIVE - 0 ( A TRIBUTE TO "THE VENTURES")

Que tal seguidores de RG&RBE.

Todos hemos escuchado y tal vez bailado el género del SURF, hoy en día hay un extenso número de agrupaciones de este género por todo el mundo, pero tal vez no sepamos mucho del mismo. Esta vez no les hablaré sobre la historia de tal ritmo, solo quisiera hacer mención de los padres de esta musica, ellos son estadounidenses y digo “son” por que aun viven y siguen teniendo giras por todo el mundo con su avanzada edad, hablo de THE VENTURES, quienes triunfaron mundialmente con este nuevo genero, y quienes demostraron a THE SHADOWS que nadie les quitaría la corona de reyes del surf, seguramente todos, absolutamente todos han escuchado por lo menos 2 o 3 canciones de ellos, ya sea en comerciales, películas o en la radio pero nadie sabe que estos maestros son quienes ejecutan tales canciones. Su carrera, estilo y talento fueron mas apreciados por los japoneses que por cualquier otro país e incluso, continente. Después de haberlos aburrido con mi sermón, les presento este compilado que hice con algunas de las canciones que son originalmente de esta agrupación ( a excepción de “Pink Panther”) pero que grupos las han grabado en SKA y 2TONE, de hecho, hasta los mismos Venturosos grabaron una canción de ska que viene incluida en este acoplado.

Espero lo disfruten y se pongan a bailar, y si de verdad aman la buena música, busquen algo de THE VENTURES; se los recomiendo.

En tercer lugar nuevamente una compilacion de ska tradicional, Top Sounds From Top Deck Vol. 1 Ska-Ra-Van, este es el volumen uno de ocho de esta serie de discos, esta vez temas lanzados por el sello Top Deck de Justin Yap.

En lo personal este disco me recuerda cuando Stranger vino a México, de los momentos que nunca olvidare y de los mas chingones de mi vida.

Empatados en la decima posicion tenemos al legendario Derrick Morgan con I Am The Ruler, excelente disco con los mejores temas de Derrick

Y Rocksteady - The Roots Of Reggae, temas sound track de el documental llamado de igual forma, en mi opinion y perdon por la expresion pero, esta bien vergas este disco!.

Larga vida RG&RBE, larga vida al ska, rocksteady y reggae, larga vida a nuestra amistad!

MADNESS - SWAN LAKE DANCE VS

Que tal gente que sigue nuestro blog, el día de ayer comentaba con dos de los miembros de este colectivo y blog RG&RBE sobre este video de Madness y de la manera de bailar de quienes aparecen en el. Este video fue presentado por mi por el colega Bofe y lo compartí con varias amistades pensando que tal vez ya lo conocian y yo era el atrasado en el asunto pero resultó ser que muchos no lo conocían, tal vez ustedes tampoco se hayan deleitado con el mismo así que aqui les traigo este muy buen video.

Skalariak - Street Ska (Documental)

Queridos seguidores de RG&RBE esta vez les dejo este excelente documental de Skalariak el cual me parecio muy interesante espero les guste. Un agradecimiento a arturoramirezhdez por subirlo.

Skalariak Street´s ska es un docu-musical de aproximadamente 70 minutos de duración sobre esta banda vasca, que inició su aventura en 1995. En este DVD verás Imágenes inéditas de sus enérgicos conciertos (México D.F., Tlalnepantla, Roma, Bologna, Montreux, Solothurn, Barcelona, Bilbao, Iruña...) dejan patente el espectáculo de esta nutrida banda en directo, así como su carácter internacional.

SKA BONANZA

Que tal seguidores de RG&RBE regresando con buen material, es el turno de este acoplado del mejor ska bajo el sello STUDIO ONE, algunas muy conocidas otras cuantas no tanto, es un disco doble que deleitara a los verdaderos amantes del ska.

LOS SOCIOS DEL RITMO - SKA

Que tal seguidores de RG&RBE, despues de haberme ausentado por un muy largo tiempo regreso con buen material y que mejor traerles esta agrupación "LOS SOCIOS DEL RITMO" que aunque fueron de los mejores exponentes del ska en México no son muy tomados en cuenta, y por lo que noté, en este blog no se había publicado nada de ellos, así que les dejo este, su primer disco, cuando se dedicaban a ejecutar el genero SKA, ahora son famosos por tocar CUMBIA pero en sus inicios hicieron bailar con JAMAICA SKA, A LA ORILLA DEL RIO entre otros temas musicales que contiene este album.

Muzik City - The Story Of Trojan

Seguidores de RG&RBE esta vez les dejo este excelente box set de 4 discos lanzado por la Trojan records en el 2003 espero que les guste.

More of a history lesson than a good listen in total, Muzik City is the story of Trojan, warts and all. Those looking for a good selection of the reggae label's best moments have plenty of other choices and might want to start with the great Tighten Up collections or wait for the 50th release in Trojan's three-CD series (a greatest-hits box to be compiled by votes from fans and due in 2004). Anyone who is a die-hard Trojan enthusiast will find plenty of surprises, secrets, and a really well done booklet to paw through. The first two discs of Muzik City are truly some of the greatest moments in rocksteady and roots reggae. But just like a two-CD Motown collection, this is really just the tip of the iceberg and John Holt, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Big Youth, and others have many more great moments to investigate. If all four CDs had focused on the hits and highlights this would truly be the box to own, but the third CD is hardly meant for repeat listening. Many of the disc's "Rarities & Oddities" are downright embarrassing (which the always honest liner notes are happy to point out). Trojan's forays into the worlds of calypso, novelty, and pop music were horribly misguided, and disc three is full of them (including a horrific reggae and yodeling matchup). Hard to imagine laughing at the stately Trojan label, but once that's over it's on to disc four's treasure chest of rarities. The hardcore should rightfully drool over the Jah Woosh and Keith Hudson team-up, a dank dub from Thunder, and an I-Roy/John Holt dubplate that includes a bit of studio banter. Great stuff for the serious fan, who probably own most of disc one and two ten times over. So who is this set made for? If your wallet is fat enough to forgive disc three, Muzik City is a fair introduction to the label that, along with Island, dominated reggae's early years. ~ David Jeffries
